Analysis grid showing the juxtaposition of
the orthogonal and the curvilinear grids

New York City was laid out, from the very beginning, on an orthogonal grid. The construction of Stuyvesant Town, a large, post-War private residential development, however, distorted this grid to the north of the Fourteenth Street and Avenue A. This project researches into the intertwining relationship between city grid and building construction and results in an observation tower that links the past, present, and future, and is dedicated to the unobserved changes of the city.
